"Anomaly #007"

"More dangerous plantation I've been noticing in the darker regions of the forest. It's rare that I dare to delve so deep, and with good reason. However, I feel that it's important for me to explore further in order to learn more. Someone has to! They'll write stories about me I promise. This anomaly seems to be a form of massive fungi, which grows in groups, forming almost its own mushroom forested areas. Do not be fooled by its vibrant colours- It's a trap. I have to thank the rodents I've been watching running to and fro else I could have met a very gruesome end during my exploration. Almost acting like a venus fly trap, This fungi uses a sweet scent to attract its victims. It awaits the perfect moment- when its victim is most bewildered, and then releases arm-like tendrils which encase the prey in a sticky cage. It's from this point that the fungi lowers its head, seemingly where the mouth is located, and begins to devour and digest its target. I'm hoping I can find a dead specimen somewhere, and run a few tests. I must be careful though- I fear if I stray too far from the lighter areas of the woods, I'll be digging myself a hole just deep enough so that I won't climb back out this time."
